In a major development, the security forces have successfully averted a major possible attack in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) by detecting and defusing a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on the Srinagar-Bandipora road, reports Asian News International (ANI).

The defused bomb consisted of a small cylinder with a timer attached to it. It was found near a bridge on the Erin river in Bandipore district earlier in the morning today (13 June). Following the development, the security forces immediately suspended movement of all traffic movement and diverted it to other routes.

Making the developments public, Chinar Corps of the Indian Army has shared that the forces have since carried out a sanitisation drive.

In a separate development, the security forces gunned down two terrorists in an encounter in the UT's Kulgam district. The encounter took place in the Nirpora area of South Kashmir earlier today after the terrorists had opened fire on the security forces who were conducting a cordon and search operation.
