Even as a delegation of People's Democratic Party (PDP) leaders had been granted the permission by Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Governor Satya Pal Malik to meet with their party chief Mehbooba Mufti, who is presently under preventive detention , the PDP chief refused to meet with a delegation of her party members, reports Financial Express.

After Mufti's refusal to meet the PDP members, the party delegation took the decision to defer the meeting to next week. The delegation, however, claimed that it has deferred the meeting owing to unavailability of some of the party members from Jammu for the meeting at the decided time of 11 am in Srinagar on Monday (7 October).

Ved Mahajan, who is a member of the party's Political Affairs Committee (PAC), said, "Some of them had to come from Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi and they said they would not be able to reach the airport for a 9 am flight. So we held a meeting at 11 pm and decided to postpone the meeting. We will seek the government’s permission again in the next week”.

Meanwhile, a delegation of senior leaders from the National Conference (NC) led by Devender Singh Rana met with party boss Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah on Sunday (6 October) in a bid to decide the future political course of the party.
