J&K Police Arrests Six People Operating Lashkar Module Which Recruited Local Youths And Financed Terror Activities

In a positive development, the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Police on Saturday (8 August) nabbed six people operating a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) module which was involved in recruitment local youth and execution of hawala transactions for financing of terror activities in the region, reports Indian Express.

The accused who were arrested by the force yesterday had allegedly been tasked to identify youth for recruitment, provide logistical support and strengthen the cadre in the region. They had also been involved in supposed sharing of information about the presence of security forces and key locations with their Pakistani handlers.

They were also tasked with transportation of arms and ammunition, besides other activities like distribution of money among the families of active and slain militants.

During questioning by the force, the accused are said to have revealed that they have received Rs 12,19,704 in total from sundry means.

The J&K Police has reported that all the six arrested were in contact with Pakistan-based handler Mohammad Amin Batt, also known by the identity of Haroon, or Khubaib. He hailed from Kathawa in Doda of J&K, but moved to Pakistan in 2007 after serving as a LeT district commander in Doda for some time.
