Lathi Charges and tear gases apart, J&K police nabs stone pelters by planting its officials among them in Srinagar's Jama Masjid downtown to arrest the culprits in action, reports Press Trust of India.
The matter began when a mob started pelting stones at police and CRPF personnel after Friday prayer but there was no retaliation this time and not even a single teargas shell was lobbed or baton charge initiated by the police.
After the crowd swelled to over 100 people and two chronic stone pelters started leading the agitation, the first tear gas shell was lobbed at the mob dispersing them.
A policeman covertly placed in the crowd grabbed two men who were leading the stone pelters and whisked them off to the vehicle. Taken by surprise, the stone pelters ended the protest as they where caught unaware about the police strategy.
Such an innovative tactic is noted after an army major famously tied a stone pelter on his jeep to escape from a deadly mob of stone pelters.
Despite protests from the usual corners, the major was backed by both the army and the centre for his actions.
