Days after the revocation of the Public Safety Act (PSA) against former chief minister (CM) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Frooq Abdullah by the incumbent J&K administration, Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah asserted that the rest of the detained political leaders would also be released very soon, reports Hindu Businessline.

Shah's assertion came as he held a meeting with the leaders of the newly formed J&K Apni Party under the leadership of former minister and senior leader from Mehbooba Mufti led People's Democratic Party (PDP) Altaf Bukhari who is the founder and president of the new political outfit.

Following the meeting with Shah, Bukhari apprised the mediapersons that the delegation led by him had taken up the matter of release of the remaining detained political leaders of J&K. He said that Shah had told them that the release of other leaders would happen very soon.

In the meeting, Shah had also assured the delegation that the statehood of J&K would be restored at an early opportunity.

Bukhari had led a delegation of 24 leaders of his party to Delhi and held a meeting with Shah and Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi on Sunday (15 March).
