Joining the national pushback against Chinese goods and imports, the Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWLF) has decided to not use any equipment made in China, while calling for a boycott of all Chinese equipment, reports Economic Times.

Informing the Sports Authority of India (SAI) of its decision, the federation has also made it clear in its letter that it would not be using any sets made in China even in the future. IWLF's secretary-general Sahdev Yadav said, "We will use sets made by Indian origin companies, or any company, but not from China."

Giving a reason for the sudden pushback, the IWLF has said that the four weightlifting sets it had ordered from Chinese firm 'ZKC' last year had turned out to be faulty and that the weightlifters were no longer using them. Yadav also added that there are ready alternatives to the Chinese equipments available in the markets.

The pushback, however, comes merely days after 20 Indian Army soldiers were martyred protecting the Indian sovereignty against Chinese belligerence and misadventures along the Line of Actual Control in the Galwan Valley in Eastern Ladakh.
