Judge, Jury And Executioner: MP Bureaucrat’s Corruption Case Dismissed Based On His Own Report

Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta has dismissed a corruption complaint against the Madhya Pradesh Livestock and Poultry Development Corporation’s (MP-LPDC) managing director (MD) based on the report submitted by the MD himself, DB Post has reported.

The complaint was filed with the Lokayukta by the State Gazetted Veterinarians’ Association President Umesh Sharma in January 2018. In his complaint, Sharma had charged HBS Bhadoria, with corruption to the tune of Rs 60 lakh in printing brochures related to the livestock insurance scheme and calendars.

Sharma was not informed about the outcome of his complaint and had to take RTI route in order to know the complaint’s status.

RTI documents received by Sharma revealed that post receiving the complaint, Lokayukta office wrote to the state animal husbandry department and sought a report on the matter. The then principal secretary of the department sought a report from the MD of MPLPDC against whom the charges were made.

MD then sent a report to the department dismissing all the charges levelled against him which the department forwarded to the Lokayukta’s office.

The Lokayukta’s office, based on the report, dismissed the complaint of Sharma without even informing him.

Sharma is not pleased with the manner the case was handled and is now planning to take the matter to the court. Sharma has alleged involvement of the MD in other forms of corruption to the tune of Rs 250 crore.
