In the aftermath of the social media storm created due to the sexist comments made by Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul on the show Koffee with Karan, the Committee of Administrators (CoA) plans to conduct a behavioural counselling programme for the Indian team, which would include players from all age groups and the A squads to avoid future incidents, reports The New Indian Express.
The two cricketers have been suspended by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) with their fate to be decided by a Supreme Court appointed ombudsman.
"The Indian senior team as well as the emerging A teams and U-19s will have behavioural counselling sessions at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The course will deal with every aspect of a professional sportsperson's life. There will also be sessions on gender sensitivity," said a senior BCCI official, close to the developments and on the condition of anonymity.
The official responded in the negative when asked if Rahul and Pandya would attend the gender sensitisation classes separately. The duo received a strong backlash over their comments made on the controversial chat show hosted by Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar.
"There will be no separate sessions for Rahul and Pandya. The entire Indian team will attend sessions and these two boys, as centrally contracted cricketers, will attend the same," he said.
