Karnataka: Student Enrollment In Government Schools Dropped By Over Two Lakh In Two Years

Student enrollment in government schools in Congress-ruled Karnataka has dropped by 2.14 lakh in two years, The Hindu has reported.

The student strength in government schools has reduced from 48,64,509 in 2014-15 to 46,50,349 in 2016-17 from classes 1 to 10, according to data given by Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Tanveer Sait during his reply to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member C T Ravi in the Assembly on Wednesday.

Bengaluru North and Bengaluru South are the only two Lok Sabha constituencies where the student strength in government schools has risen, although marginally. Student strength increased in Bengaluru North during this period by 1,982 and in Bengaluru South by 2,038.
