The Karnataka government will soon prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) regarding upgrade of Bidar-Srirangapatna national highway to a four-lane road and submit it to the Central government, The Hindu has reported.

State’s minister of public works HD Revanna, who was addressing the press after chairing a review meeting of development works at Kalaburagi, Bidar and Yadgir districts, informed the media on Monday (4 February) that the government would send the DPR to the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for approval.

The Bidar-Srirangapatna National Highway 150-A passes through Kalaburagi, Ballari, Hiriyur and Nagamangala in the state.

The minister said the state government would also seek cabinet approval for widening of a 145-km section of the inter-state highway connecting Ripponpalli in Andhra Pradesh and Wagdhari in Maharashtra that passes through Kalaburagi.

Revanna said he had written to the finance department to release Rs 35 crore in order to speed up the slow pace of work on an bridge to replace the level crossing at Hirapur on the outskirts of Kalaburagi. “Once the funds are released, the project will be completed as soon as possible,” he was quoted in the report as saying.
