Karti Chidambaram Claims All Political Parties Are Turning Into Family Businesses

Expressing his displeasure with dynasty politics and its destructive consequences, Karti Chidambaram, son of former Union minister and veteran Congress leader P Chidambaram, remarked that all political parties have turned into “ family private limited” companies and stressed on the urgent need for a new platform for the politically ambitious youth of the youth of country.

Addressing a meeting of ‘G-67’ a two-year-old youth collective launched by him to mark five decades of Dravidian rule in Tamilnadu, he spoke of the need for a new avenue for Tamil youngsters seeking a political career as there was no space for the youth in any of the traditional parties.

"…There cannot be any alternative view there. You have to sing peans to the supreme leader and if the leader wishes, one may get some position," he said.

"Opportunities will be given (by a party) only to the heirs of a local, state or national-level leader. Newcomers will not be given opportunities (election tickets). Has any political party ever said that they are giving ticket to a gold medal winner of the IIT?" he remarked, upset with a lack of room for alternate views in the existing political set-up.

Tweeting about it, he said, " Every party from the NC, PDP, Akali, SS, RJD, SP, TRS, TD, DMK, AIADMK, BJD and the BJP now with the proliferation of heirs.#G67."
