Following allegations of sexual harassment against Communist Party of India-Marxist MLA P K Sasi, the state women’s commission chairperson has shockingly commented that “mistakes do happen”, ANI has reported.

The chairperson MC Josephine, when asked about the sexual harassment charges, was quoted on Wednesday (5 September) as saying that, “We are all human beings, mistakes do happen. People inside the party may also have committed such mistakes”.

She also refused to register a case by arguing that they had not yet received any complaint in this regard.

“We have not got any complaint. Even for suo moto case, we need at least the basic details like the nature of complaint which could be revealed either by the media or the victim themselves, in this case, that hasn't happened. Then how can we register a case”, asked Josephine.

We had reported earlier that, the victim, an activist of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), had alleged that she was sexually harassed by Sasi and complained to CPI-M central leadership after the State leadership failed to respond.

Following this, the National Commission For Women (NCW) had filed a complaint against the CPM MLA even as the Kerala government and the state women’s commission kept passing the buck.
