Veteran journalist, Swapan Dasgupta who also shared this video, questioned as to whether this was the reason why so few posters of Prime Minister Modi and the BJP are visible in the city.
The event does not seem isolated, and a few days ago Mamata had slammed villagers for chanting Jai Shri Ram. The video which had surfaced was from Radhabalavpur area in Chandrakona.
There, she had referred to the chants as being abusive, and subsequently three people were detained in connection with the matter and were labelled as BJP supporters.
The TMC later had come up with a defence, and had accused the BJP of playing a “dirty game”. Rajya Sabha MP Derek o’Brian who was quoted by the AITC handle as alleging that the incident showed BJP’s desperation.
TMC has also been accused of attacking BJP workers, ransacking their office and not allowing elections to take place in a free and fair manner.
