In an event that has sent Madhya Pradesh’s (MP) political circles abuzz with speculation, senior Congress Member of Parliament Jyotiraditya Scindia conducted a 40-minute meeting behind closed doors with former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan at the latter’s residence, reports Times of India.

The two veteran politicians emerged from the house to meet with a group of journalists which had collected outside; they called their interaction a ‘courtesy meet’ but also stated that ‘the talks were good’, an indication that they would have likely discussed the current political atmosphere in MP as well as the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Scindia was also questioned about the BJP pre-election slogan ‘Maaf Karo Maharaj’ against him, to which he responded, “I am not a person who lives with bitterness in relations throughout life. I believe in ‘raat gayi, baat gayi’. There is a tussle during elections, but it vanishes after results. We believe in taking everyone along.”

Chouhan echoed the amicable mood and said,“It was a courtesy meeting. We met, we discussed. But there are no complaints or hard feelings.”

Scindia announced that he would be contesting the Lok Sabha polls from his stronghold of Guna-Shivpuri, which has set off speculation that the BJP could have his aunt Yashodhara Raje run on that seat.

Other political conjecture floating about is that Chouhan may be unhappy about not being made the leader of Opposition and being relegated to the position of party national vice-president.
