Aasia Bibi, christian Pakistani woman who was recently acquitted in the blasphemy case has been transferred from a secret location near Pakistan’s capital to another in Karachi, reports Indian Express.

Despite spending eight years on death row in Pakistan and ultimate acquittal by the country’s supreme court, Bibi has not been allowed to leave to the country to join her daughters in Canada.

The IE quoted Aman Ullah, who spoke to Bibi over the phone, saying that the 54-year old christian facing death threats from the Islamists is being held in a room in the southern port city.

“The door opens only at the time for food,” said Ullah. She is allowed to make phone calls only in the morning and again at night. He said she usually calls her daughters. Bibi’s husband is with her,” he added.

“She has no indication of when she will leave … they are not telling her why she cannot leave,” said Ullah, who has already fled the country after receiving threats from extremists angered by his support to Bibi since she was on the death row.

Ullah also spoke to diplomats at Pakistan where he was told that her departure from Pakistan would come not in the short term, but “in the medium term.”

However, Pakistan Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has informed that “She is living with her family and given requisite security for safety”. The Pakistan government is responsible for taking all possible measures to protect her and her family, Chaudhry added.
