Tensions at the India-Pakistan border remain as the latter resorted to baseless small arms firing and mortar shelling across the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Mankote area.
According to sources, the Pakistani troops started firing from small arms and mortars towards the Indian side of the border. The firing was intense until 1:30 pm, but, however, the intensity decreased subsequently.
The Border Security Force (BSF), in the meanwhile, captured alive a Pakistani intruder in an injured condition in Samba sector, while the Indian Army retaliated to the ceasefire promptly with no casualties or damage on the Indian side, reports Indian Express.
On the other hand, there was substantial damage to the Pakistani side due to retaliation by the Indian Army and the BSF.
Furthermore, in Kashmir’s Khamoh area in Pampore, two Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) militants and one intruder were killed, while a separatist-backed shutdown and heightened security disrupted normal life in the Kashmir Valley, reports The Hindu.
