Loss Of Confidence: More And More Google Employees Do Not Trust Sundar Pichai’s Vision As CEO

According to the latest annual internal poll conducted at Google, only 78 per cent of employees (known as Googlers) said CEO Sundar Pichai’s vision inspires them, a marked ten per cent decrease over last year, reports Bloomberg.

Also, only 74 per cent of the employees expressed confidence in Pichai and his management team to lead Google in the future effectively, an 18 point decline from the last year.

There was a similar decline in approval ratings for other questions like Pichai’s decisions and strategies, his commitment to diversity and inclusion, and compensation paid by the company.

2018 was a tense year for Google as clashes between the employees and management spilled over into the public. While some employees voiced concerns against Google’s planned efforts to launch a censored search engine in China, thousands of others staged a walkout protesting against large payments made by the company to former executives accused of sexual harassment and assault.

There were also divergent opinions on the lack of benefits for contract staff and the ethics of artificial intelligence (AI) between the staff and managers.

Against Forced Arbitration

Recently, several Google employees have also taken to Instagram and Twitter to demand that the company remove the force-arbitration clause from employee contracts. The provision prevents employees from filing a lawsuit against an organisation if they believe that they have been the target of injustice. Googlers allege that this clause does not allow them to voice concerns against workplace discrimination.
