P Nedumaran, the leader of Tamil Nationalist Movement (TNM) and Ulaka Tamilar Peramaippu (World Tamil Confederation) has made a startling statement, saying that Velupillai Prabhakaran, the commander of the defeated terror group, Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) is alive and would appear in public at the 'right' time.
Nedumaran added that he was making the announcement with the consent of Prabhakaran's family.
Further, he said that the situation now is conducive for Prabhakaran to achieve a 'Tamil Eelam' because the country was going through an economic crisis.
The LTTE fought to create an independent state called Tamil Eelam for Sri Lankan Tamils, comprising the northern and eastern parts of the country.
Prabhakaran is believed to have been killed by the Sri Lankan army in 2009 during the last leg of the war against the LTTE.
