In a big hike in state’s COVID-19 tally, Maharashtra reported 778 new positive cases on Thursday (23 April) taking the total number to 6,427, said a state health official, PTI tweeted. Fourteen people lost their lives to the novel coronavirus in the state.
So far, the state has confirmed 269 deaths due to the deadly virus.

State capital Mumbai, which has been the worst-hit city in the country, alone confirmed 522 fresh cases. At present, the Mumbai’s total tally stands at 4,205.
This is biggest one-day addition to any state’s tally in the country.
According to Union Health Ministry’s data, India’s tally of Sars-CoV-2 has mounted upto 21,700, including 686 casualties.
