Maharashtra Minister and BJP leader Pankaja Munde is trailing by around 3,000 votes from Parli seat in Beed district against her cousin Dhananjay Munde, who is contesting on Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) ticket, according to News 18 Hindi.
Former union minister Gopinath Munde’s daughter is locked in a close battle against her cousin, whom she defeated by 25,895 votes in the 2014 assembly elections.
She, in the outgoing government, holds the key portfolios of Rural Development, and Women and Child Development.
However, if she manages to retain her seat, it will be her third consecutive win from Parli.
At this time, the BJP-Shiv Sena's dream run continued with their candidates leading in over 175 constituencies while the opposition Congress-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) nominees were ahead in around 91 seats, as trends of the 21 October Maharashtra Assembly elections became available on Thursday (24 October).
