Allaying reports that Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi did not talk to West Bengal Chief Minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee about cyclone Fani, the sources in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMP) on Sunday (5 May) said that two attempts were made to connect PM Modi to West Bengal CM but there was no response from the latter, reports Zee News.
"Attention has been drawn to reports in a section of media, that TMC has expressed its displeasure at PM Modi speaking only to WB Governor, about the post-Fani situation in the state. TMC have claimed that the PM had called Odisha and not West Bengal CM. The claim is incorrect," PMO sources were quoted as saying by ANI.
According to the report, TMC had alleged that PM Modi only called West Bengal governor Keshri Nath Tripathi and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik but not West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.
Cyclone Fani, which made landfall near Puri in Odisha, on its path, reportedly lashed on several towns and cities in West Bengal including Digha, Haldia, Tajpur, Mandarmani, Sandehskhali, Contai, Diamond Harbour, Bankura, Sriniketan, Asansol, Dumdum and Alipore.
