Metro Devo Bhava! Ameerpet-LB Nagar Line In Hyderabad Sees Record 69,000 Passengers On Day Two

Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) recently inaugurated its Ameerpet-LB Nagar stretch. Just on day two, the number of riders touched 69,000. The number of commuters using Corridor-1 has bounced from 45,000 to 1,14,000 after the opening of the new stretch, said HMRL’s Managing Director NVS Reddy.

Times of India reported that nearly 1.62 lakh passengers used the Metro on Tuesday, (25 September). Among these, 1.45 lakh were paid passengers. Out of this, 69,000 people used the Ameerpet-LB Nagar stretch. The Metro ran nearly 71 trips that day. On day 1, just about 19,000 people used the Metro.

LB Nagar metro station saw the highest footfall with 10,400 people. It overtook Miyapur (8,100) and KPHB (8,400). Ameertpet received a footfall of over 15,000.

NVS Reddy said, “Not many joy riders were observed unlike (the) Metro inauguration. More employees, self-employed people, women and students were seen in the trains and stations in the new section. We expect the numbers to stabilise in the next 15 days.”

A survey conducted to inspect the passenger satisfaction in over 13 cities concluded that Hyderabad Metro occupied the first place with a score of 98 per cent. The survey was conducted by Keolis Hyderabad MRTS Ltd.
