In a major acquisition, Satya Nadella led Microsoft Corporation has announced that it will be buying speech recognition company Nuance Communications for a price of whopping $16 billion, reports CNBC.

Including the debt component, the deal is worth about $19 billion. This comes at a time when Microsoft Corporation is also said to be in talks to acquire chat application Discord at a tag of $10 billion. It should also be noted that just last month, Microsoft had completed its $7.6 billion acquisition of gaming company Zenimax.

The acquisition of Nuance Communications would mark the biggest acquisition by the Redmond-headquartered technology behemoth since its 2016 deal to buy professional social media platform Linkedin for $26 billion.

Announcing the development, Nadella took to Twitter and said together with Nuance Communications, Microsoft Corporation will put advanced artificial intelligence solutions into the hands of professionals to drive better decision-making and to create more meaningful connections.
