Microsoft To Train 5,000 Government Employees In Artificial Intelligence And Cloud Computing

Tech giant Microsoft has joined hands with the union government to help train 5,000 employees of the Government of India over the next year in the domains of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing, reports Economic Times.

The programme will involve both physical and virtual workshops and was inaugurated yesterday (27 August) by NITI Aayog chief executive Amitabh Kant and secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeITY).

The program named "Digital Governance Tech Tour" will be open to technocrats and IT professions in all rungs of the government departments, including the employees of the public sector undertakings (PSUs).

Hailing the development, Kant said, "Collaboration with academia and industry, and initiatives such as this will help build the foundation towards an AI enabled future." Joining him, Microsoft's President for India, Anant Maheshwari opined, "AI and the cloud can enable path-breaking innovation and drive the next phase of India's growth."
