The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has announced that it is boycotting singer Mika Singh for his recent live performance at an event in Karachi which was part of wedding festivities organised by a relative of former Pakistan president General Musharraf, reports The Tribune.

Footage of Singh’s performance in Karachi has been doing rounds across social media, with a number of Indian users expressing disappointment with the singer’s actions in light of recent India-Pakistan tensions.

"AICWA bans and boycott singer Mika Singh from the Indian film industry for performing  at a high profile event at Karachi dated August 8, 2019,” says a letter written by AICWA president Suresh Shyamlal.

The letter further warns that the body will not let anyone in India work with Singh, and will use legal means to prevent the same.

The event at which Singh had performed was organised by Adnan Asad, Musharraf’s cousin, for his daughter’s pre-wedding ceremony. Singh, along with his crew had been issued 30-day visas to perform in the three cities of Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
