Former world champion Mirabai Chanu lifted 86kg in snatch and a world record of 119kg in clean and jerk for a total of 205 kilograms, winning a bronze medal at the Asian Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan as per a report in India Today.
In her first international competition in thirteen months, Chanu was off to a troubled start as she failed to lift 85kg in her first two snatch attempts. She lifted 86kg in her final attempt.
In clean and jerk, she registered 113 and 117 kgs in her first two attempts. In her third attempt, she bettered an earlier clean and jerk world record of 118kg by one Kilogram.

Chanu's personal best total in the 49kg category was 203kg (88kg+115kg) at the National Championship in February last year, which she also improved by lifting 86kg in snatch and 119kg in clean and jerk for a total of 205kg.
Her compatriot Jhilli Dalabehera won the gold medal in the 45kg category. Dalabehera lifted 69kg in the snatch and 88kg in clean jerk for a total of 157kg.
Chanu also confirmed her Tokyo Olympic spot as she has now competed in the six mandatory qualifying events in 49 Kg, while 45 kg is not an Olympic weight category.
