In a big push to induct more of private-sector specialists into different government departments at the decision-making level of joint cecretaries and directors, the government has invited applications from those interested for the jobs from 6 February to 22 March, reports Economic Times.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will shortlist the candidates for interviews based on the information provided by them in their online applications. They will be hired through the lateral entry mode on a contractual basis.
Private sector individuals would be appointed at the level of director on contract basis in the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Department of Financial Services, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Law & Justice, Department of School Education & Literacy, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Ministry of Civil Aviation and in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
The development comes after the Union Ministry for Personnel had earlier in July 2018 invited applications for ten Joint Secretary rank posts via lateral entry. The mechanism of recruiting fresh talent in the bureaucracy from the private sector was introduced by Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi's government during the first tenure.
