A team from Mossad, Israel’s spy agency, met the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday (03 February) to collect the information obtained so far in the bomb blast that occurred outside the Israel embassy in New Delhi on 29 January, reports Hindustan Times.

Both countries are coordinating to identify persons responsible for the attack. Investigation agencies are also gathering technical data from several social media accounts.

People familiar with the development said to Hindustan Times that the initial investigation points to an Iranian hand.

“29th anniversary of India-Israel’s diplomatic relation; letter left at the site seeking to avenge the killings Iran Quds Commander Qassem Soleimani, and Abu Mehdhi Al Muhandis, who were killed in a US drone attack in January 2020, and Iranian nuclear physicist Dr Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, who died in a car bomb attack in Iran in November 2020; and the bitter relationship between Iran and Israel,” an officer familiar with the matter said the reason to suspect an Iranian involvement.

A very low intensity improvised explosive device went off at about 5.05 pm on Friday evening (29 January) at APJ Abdul Kalam Road near the Embassy of Israel in New Delhi.

There were no casualties, injuries or damage to any property was reported due to the incident. After the blast around 5.11 pm, the investigators recovered a letter addressed to Israeli Ambassador to India, Ron Malka.

The letter was addressed to “The Terrorist, Devil of Terrorist Nation Dr Ron Malka” and was written by someone who identified himself as “Sarallah India Hezbollah”.
