Most Terrorists Eliminated In The Valley; Peace And Normalcy Have Returned To Kashmir: Gen KJS Dhillon

The Chinar Corps Commander, Lieutenant General KJS Dhillon said that the security forces have eliminated most terrorists in the valley, reports Hindustantimes.

“Overall security situation in the valley is very good, most of the terrorist leadership has been targeted and eliminated. Today there is hardly any leadership of terrorists which is able to operate in the valley,” Chinar Corps Commander, Lt General KJS Dhillon said, according to ANI.

Last week, Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh had said that the number of militants active in Kashmir has come down and only 200-250 militants are presently active in the valley now.

This was stated by J&K Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh at a press conference in Srinagar on Saturday (22 February).

When asked about Pakistan’s continuous ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC), General Dhillon said this is nothing but Pakistan’s effort to infiltrate more terrorists into Indian territory and ceasefire violations on LoC is just covering fire.

Uri, Gurez and Keran sectors along the LoC witnessed frequent ceasefire violation in the last two months.

As the security situation has improved in the valley, schools reopened on Monday (24 February). They remained closed after the abrogation of the Constitution’s Article 370.

Next month, Gulmarg in Kashmir will host the national winter games that are expected to draw more than 800 participants making it the biggest sporting event in Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370.
