Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday (2 December) ordered the state tourism department to draft a plan for building a world class multi-level aquarium in Mumbai, Press Trust of India has reported.
Thackeray in a statement claimed that Mumbai being an international city, it will see tourists visiting via the international cruise terminal.
“Hence, as a part of it we need to have an international multilevel aquarium in the first stage. I have asked the officials to prepare a proposal for the project”, Thackeray was quoted as saying.
Incidentally, this decision comes after Thackeray ordered a halt on the Mumbai Metro-3 car shed upcoming at the city’s Aarey Milk Colony.
This car shed is considered critical to the project and its absence at the Aarey site may make the project un-viable.
Thackeray has also ordered a review of all the ongoing developmental projects in the state, including the much anticipated Bullet Train.
