The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train which is likely to roll out between 2022-2023 is reportedly going to include a number of special features including comfortable multi-purpose rooms, reports Financial Express.
National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited, which is working to implement the high-speed train corridor project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai has notified that keeping in mind the safety and comfort of the passenger, the train will boast many hallmarks including multi-purpose rooms. The rooms are supposed to have foldable beds for mothers with infants and patients. They will also come with baggage racks and mirrors.
The trains are set to have a speed of 320 km per hour. The fares are presumed to be around 1.5 times more than the existing fares of AC First Class of the Indian Railways.
The complete corridor for the bullet train will be 509.17km long. 155.76 km will be in the state of Maharashtra, 348.94 km in Gujarat, with the remaining 4.3 km in Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
The train during the course of its journey shall cover a total of 12 railway stations- Ahmedabad, Anand, Sabarmati, Bharuch, Surat, Bilimora, Vadodara, Boisar, Virar, Vapi, Thane and Mumbai. It is expected that the trains shall roll out by 2022-2023, but the land acquisition seems to be a consistent problem. The train is also supposed to chart its course through India's first undersea rail tunnel.
NHSRCL had reported early this year that it had been requested to look into the practicability of 10 more bullet train corridors. The whole of this bullet train project is set to cost around Rs 10 lakh crore, and shall cover a distance of around 6000 km in total. New six routes as of now have been charted out, namely, New Delhi-Amritsar, New Delhi-Mumbai, New Delhi-Kolkata, New Delhi-Varanasi, Chennai-Bengaluru, Patna-Kolkata routes.
