The #MeToo movement has gained a lot of traction in the country as stories pour in on Indian social media about known personalities in different fields forcing themselves on women and making lewd remarks around them. There are allegations made against Industry heavyweights in the Tamil film industry like poet and lyricist Vairamuthu and actor M R Radha.
Vairamuthu, who has penned several famous songs , has been accused of sexually harassing women. At least two women anonymously said that they were groped and molested by Vairamuthu. Journalist Sandhya Menon was the first person to put out a tweet with a message she had received from a woman who was 18 at that point of time, accusing Vairamuthu of molesting her when she went to work with him.

People are standing up to Vairamuthu now despite his political connections and power since actresses like Chinmayi Sripaada who alleged that the poet harassed her in 2005-06 during the launch of an album.
I asked why. He told me to cooperate. I refused. We demanded to be sent back to India. He said âYou wont have a career!â

My mother and I both put our foot down, career vendam mannum vendam. Demanded an earlier flight to India and came back.
Chinmayi says that even though he might destroy her career she will speak up and he will not get away with it. The movement is increasingly gaining momentum as influential figures are held accountable for their alleged actions by stars and personalities from various fields coming together to support the campaign and call out people irrespective of their position in society
A Union I am involved in and a member - the rules of the Union forbid me from speaking to Media OR The Police.

Three complaints of sexual harassment in exchange of the Union Card.
And with this my dubbing career is 100% over.
