Cricketer turned Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Parliament, Navjot Singh Sidhu who recently joined Congress says he is a born Congressman and his return to the party is “Ghar Wapsi”. In a press conference at the Congress headquarters in New Delhi today, Sidhu said he has come back to his roots.

Hitting at his arch-rivals, the Badals, Sidhu said, Akali Dal was a holy organisation but has now become a family’s fiefdom. Highlighting the drug problem in the state, he said it’s “a reality in Punjab, you can’t have a ostrich like mentality by ignoring it. Lives of youth are being destroyed.”

On criticism over leaving the party which is akin to mother, Sidhu said, “Kaikeyi was also a mother who banished his son. Everyone knows who is Manthra. Its up to people to decide who is Kaikeyi and who is Kaushalya”. On parting ways with the BJP, Sidhu said they chose alliance, “I chose Punjab.”
