Nepal-India Economic Cooperation: Nepalese Officials To Undergo Special Training In India For Public Finance Management

India is all set to train 62 officials from Nepal in subjects such as public finance management, one-payment systems, accounting, internal audits and fiscal responsibility, reports The New Indian Express.

According to the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, this training exercise is part of the Nepal-India Economic Cooperation Programme. The course, called ‘Global Perspectives on Public Financial Management’ will be conducted in three batches with 20 Nepalese officials being trained initially from 14 January onwards.

The training will also include educating officials about cash management, public borrowing system, accounting of foreign loans/grants and repayments, pension payment system, budget management, etc.

The initiative was a result of a request by Nepal’s Ministry of Finance. The subjects being taught are based on the Ministry’s requirement, according t The Himalayan Times.

These officials will be trained at the Institute of Government Accounts and Finance, which has state-of-the-art facilities for learning. The institute provides training to officials from friendly countries under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation programme.
