Top ruling communist party leaders have demanded the resignation of Nepal's Prime Minister K P Oli, Press Trust of India has reported.

Oli, who had recently alleged that India was trying to remove him from his post, was slammed for his comments by former prime minister - Pushpa Kamal Dahal who said that, "The Prime Minister's remarks that India was conspiring to remove him was neither politically correct, nor diplomatically appropriate...such a statement by the Prime Minister may damage our relations with the neighbour".

Subsequently other senior party leaders during a standing committee meeting Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhalanath Khanal, Vice chairman Bamdev Gautam and Narayankaji Shrestha asked Oli to either provide evidence to back his allegations or resign.

"The Prime Minister should resign on moral ground as he spoke such an undiplomatic and nonpolitical remarks", says the report.

Oli recently unveiled a controversial new map of the country while including Indian territories like Kalapani. This comes amid reports of China annexing a Nepali village and occupying other territories.
