In an unprecedented development for the politics of the erstwhile State and the newly formed Union territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), breakaway leaders from Congress, National Conference (NC) and People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the region are set to announce a new political outfit, reports Times of India.
The new party will involve the PDP founder and former deputy chief minister (CM) of the erstwhile State Muzaffar Hussain Baig, the former finance minister of J&K Altaf Bukhari and several others from the three parties.
The formation of the new political outfit was made public in the first ever political rally held in J&K since the Parliament's decision to de-operationalise Article 370. The rally was championed by former junior minister for planning and development in J&K, Usman Majid, who was earlier a MLA from Congress party but has now joined the upcoming party.
Majid shared that the senior leaders who belonged to Congress, PDP and NC will announce the formation of the political party in a few days with an immediate agenda for conduction of the Panchayat elections and the restoration of Statehood for J&K.
