Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has said that is government is considering to bring a legislation to “control” the media, specifically electronic media, to check “irresponsible reporting”, the Times of India reports.

CM Kumaraswamy was speaking at a book launch organised by Mysuru Zilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat on Sunday (19 May). He said that he has not spoken to the media in the past month due to “irresponsible reporting”.

“Though former minister and JD(S) chief AH Vishwanath, during his speech, said even Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scared to address the media, it’s not the same for me,” Kumaraswamy said.

He added that he used to have cordial relations with media, but due to irresponsible reporting about politicians, who are treated as “jokers”, he does not bother to address the media anymore.

“Electronic media earlier had ethics, but now, not many adhere to ethics. They should realise that I have not survived because of favourable reporting, but because of the faith of 6.6 crore people of this state, ” Kumaraswamy added.

Continuing his attack against media, CM Kumaraswamy claims the press had ignored his good deeds and were focusing on false reports. “Do you think the government will keep quiet? The government is mulling over a law so that there is some control on irresponsible reporting,” HDK said.
