The Government on Sunday (26 April) refuted the news reports claiming that it was mulling to bring down the retirement age of Central Government employees and reiterated that the retirement age remains 60-years, reports Economic Times.
Slamming the reports which had asserted that the Government had moved in a proposal to lower the retirement age to 50 years, Union Minister of State (MoS) for Personnel Jitendra Singh issued an official communique explaining that there has been no such discussion or contemplation at any level in the Government.
MoS Singh also lamented that such disinformation was being planted in the nation's media by certain vested interests at a time when the country is battling against the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
MoS Singh asserted that time and again certain motivated sections have been on to planting such disinformation over the last few days and attributing it to the Government or to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). He added that each time a prompt rebuttal is sought to be made so as to clear the confusion created thereafter.
