The office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Madhya Pradesh, in order to facilitate voters and increase the voting percentage, will roll out an app ‘Qless’ which would allow voters to book time slot for voting in the upcoming state elections, Jagran has reported.

As per the report, for the app-based queue-less voting will be implemented on an experimental-basis at a polling station in Bhopal. The Election Commission is yet to announce the name of the polling-centre where the facility will be available.

The voters will have to register on the app, after which they can pick a time slot for casting their vote. The slot will be half-an-hour long and be the voter will be allotted with a token number. The voters can come to vote within the duration of the slot, avoiding long queues.

However, if they fail to reach the polling station by the designated time, they will have to stand in normal queues to cast their vote.

Meanwhile, it is also being planned that each district in the state will have a ‘queue-less polling station’ where the voting will take place according to token-numbers. Voters will have to meet the Booth Level Officers (BLO) at kiosks set up in front of the polling booth which will generate a token number for each voter. The voters would then be asked to sit and wait at a designated place till their turn comes as per the token number, after which they will enter the polling station to vote.

As per the report, five polling stations in Bhopal may be set up for conducting queue less polling.

Joint Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Narwal told the paper that they are looking for places where there are large societies to conduct queue-less polling.
