'No Justification For Terrorism Under Any Circumstance': India Condemns Beheading Of French Teacher, Supports President Macron

India on Wednesday (28 October) said that the personal attacks on French President Emmanuel Macron are deplorable and also condemned the brutal terrorist attack in Paris in which a teacher was beheaded after he showed the cartoons of Prophet Mohammed during a lecture on freedom of speech.

"We strongly deplore the personal attacks in unacceptable language on President Emmanuel Macron in violation of the most basic standards of international discourse," the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a press release.

"We also condemn the brutal terrorist attack that took the life of a French teacher in a gruesome manner that has shocked the world," the ministry said.

The MEA also offered condolences to the teacher's family and the people of France.

"There is no justification for terrorism for any reason or under any circumstance," it added.

It should be noted that the 42-year-old teacher Samuel Paty was beheaded by an Islamist fanatic with Chechen-roots. Following the incident, the police gunned down the 18-year-old killer after he failed to respond to the orders to put down his arms and instead acted in a threatening manner.

Following this, the French authorities started a massive crackdown on radical Islamists.

The slain teacher was hailed as a "quiet hero" by French President Macron.

"He was killed precisely because he incarnated the Republic", Macron said. "He was killed because the Islamists want our future. They know that with quiet heroes like him, they will never have it."

Paty was posthumously awarded the Legion d'Honneur - France's highest honour for his bravery.

After Macron's tough stance against Islamists, Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attacked the French President, saying he needs mental treatment for his critical remarks on radical Islam.

Following this, France termed the Erdogan's remarks against Macron as "unacceptable".

“President Erdoğan’s comments are unacceptable. Excess and rudeness are not a method. We demand that Erdoğan change the course of his policy because it is dangerous in every respect,” an official from Macron's office was quoted by AFP as saying.

It should also be noted that after Macron's criticism of Islamists in France, a campaign to boycott French products was also launched by radical Islamists on the social media.
