A shooting incident in Toronto on Sunday (22 July) left 13 injured and a woman dead, The Guardian has reported. The gunman was also neutralised after an exchange with police. The incident occurred in Greektown neighbourhood near Danforth and Pape Avenues at 10 pm. The police claimed that 14 individuals had been shot with a handgun.

Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders informed that the motive of the gunman had not been ascertained yet and refused to comment till further information was available. Mayor of Toronto, John Tory called the attack a "despicable act".

In a press conference, he told the media that the incident was a result of gun problem as they were easily available to too many people. The Premier of Ontario, Dough Ford tweeted a condolence message to those affected by the incident.

Police urged those who witnessed the event or had recorded a video of the shooting to get in touch with them, according to the report.
