Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath means business when he says restoring law and order in the state is his top priority. Over 100 policemen have been suspended by state police, as per a PTI report, since Adityanath took charge as Chief Minister.
Most of these suspensions are said to have taken place in Ghaziabad, Meerut and Noida, while seven inspectors from Lucknow have met with the same fate.
Director general of police Javeed Ahmed had reportedly called for the “black sheep” among the policemen to be identified. “Exemplary action” is expected to be taken against these policemen, mostly constables.
