On Sunday (9 February) All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi said that those who stand up to Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and refuse to produce documents to prove his citizenship, are true warrior men, reports Republic TV.

He said that Jo Modi-Shah ke khilaaf awaaz uthayega woh sahi maayne mein “mard-e-mujahid keh layega.”

The word “Mujahid”, a singular for “Mujahideen”, literally means a Muslim man engaged in Jihad in the way of Allah and crusading in the cause of Islam.

In his speech Owaisi said, India is his home and he will not show his documents to prove his citizenship and continue to oppose NRC. He dared people to shoot at him and but in his heart he carried love for India in it.

On Saturday (8 February), Hyderabad became the first city to in India to pass a resolution against the National Population Register (NPR). The resolution was adopted after former Mayor and AIMIM national corporator Majid Hussein had proposed it to Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, who accepted it.
