Pakistan Using Diplomatic Cover For Anti-Government, Anti-India Activities, Says Bangladesh; Rejects New Envoy

Pakistan-Bangladesh relations are witnessing a significant low as the Sheikh Hasina government has refused to accept the new Pakistani envoy, alleging that Pakistan is using diplomacy as a cover for ISI activities.

Accusing Pakistan of using its High Commission to further anti-government and anti-India activities through social media, Pakistan’s nomination for the post Saqlain Syedah has been shot down by India’s eastern neighbour.

Bangladesh government sources told Economic Times that the Pakistani High Commission in Dhaka has emerged as a centre of anti-government activities as well as activities against India adding that the Pakistan High Commission was using social tools like Facebook to spread dissent and disinformation.

The previous BNP government in Bangladesh had been accused of promoting ISI activities against Indian soil, including supporting insurgents from North-East, but the Sheikh Hasina government has cracked down on such activities and handed over the arrested insurgents to Delhi.

The regime has also cracked down on pro-Pak war criminals, executing several of the convicts, despite Pakistan’s pleading against the move.
