A leading Pakistani English daily carried a sensational report on Wednesday (14 December) stating that China will use Pakistan to loot and plunder Balochistan through the $46 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

An ANI report quoted the 'Express Tribune' as saying that the CPEC, "designed by China for China", will be used as a pathway to gain access to global markets. Pakistani entrepreneurs, it said, would not be able to compete with Chinese manufacturers.

The 3,000km long CPEC, which connects China's restive Xinjiang region with the Gwadar port in Pakistan's troubled Balochistan province, passes through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. India has objected to this ambitious project which is part of China's 'One Belt, One Road' initiative.
