Plaint Against Karnataka CM For ‘Outraging Modesty Of A Woman’

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has landed in legal trouble for the remarks he made against a woman farmer in Karnataka. Sugarcane farmers have been protesting for the release of arrears, which have been pending for about four years now. Miffed by the protest exhibited by the farmers in Belagavi, Kumaraswamy had earlier asked where the woman was sleeping for so long. He said that she suddenly woke up one day and started making allegations against the ruling dispensation.

Bengaluru-based Karnataka Karmika Kalyana Prathishtana has now filed a complaint with DG-IGP, Neelamani Raju, under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 509 and 504. The organisation has accused the Chief Minister of “gesturing or acting intending to outrage the modesty of a woman and intentionally insulting with an intent to provoke breach of peace.”

However, a confirmation from officials is pending about the acceptance of the complaint. The complaint has been filed via email to the office of the DG-IGP.

Deccan Herald reported that the organisation is seeking ‘suitable action’ against Kumaraswamy for the remarks he made.
