In a big tourism and connectivity boost to the Statue of Unity in Gujarat's Kevadia, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the newly built railway station at Kevadia on 16 January along with the broad gauge railway line which would connect the station with Vadodara, reports Financial Express.
The foundation stone for the development of the Kevadia railway station was laid in December 2018 by President Ram Nath Kovind. The station is situated about five km away from the Statue of Unity which at a staggering height of 182 metres holds the prestigious title of being the world's tallest statue.
On 18 January, PM Modi will also be laying the foundation stone for two metro rail projects in Gujarat. These include the upcoming Surat metro rail project and the Phase-II of the metro rail service connecting Ahmedabad with Gandhinagar and the financial hotspot of GIFT City.
The Union Cabinet headed by PM Modi had given the approval for the construction of the Phase-II of the Ahmedabad metro rail project back in February 2019. In March 2019, PM Modi had also inaugurated 6.5 km-long stretch of the project's phase-I.
