The makers of 'PM Narendra Modi' on Friday (3 May) have announced that the film is slated for a nationwide release on 24 May, a day after the Lok Sabha results are declared, Business Standard reports.

The film which stars Vivek Oberoi in the titular role of current Prime Minister Narendra Modi was supposed to release on 11 April but was banned by the Election Commission (EC) during the poll period.

In their order, the EC, a day before the release, said that such a movie subserves the purpose of political entities or any individual should not be displayed in electronic media.

"As a responsible citizen, we respect the law of the country. After a lot of discussions and keeping the curiosity and excitement about the film in mind we have decided to release the film immediately after the Lok Sabha election results," the movie’s producer, Sandip Singh, said in a statement.

The film would be promoted only for four days and release on 24 May 2019 Singh said before adding, "I hope now nobody has any problem with the film and we are hoping for the smooth release this time".
