Senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament from West Bengal Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Tuesday (5 January) lashed out at the Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress (TMC) dispensation.

In a quote to ANI he alleged that there is no democracy in West Bengal and that people were looted of their savings under chit fund scams with the help of the ruling government.

He referenced to the Kolkata Police Commissioner by calling him a servant of Banerjee who does whatever she says.

Chowdhury was also quoted by the Indian Express demanding President’s rule in the state. He also chided Banerjee that there was no moral victory for her in the Supreme Court verdict.

He alleged that free and fair elections are not allowed to take place in Bengal and added that there is a constitutional crisis in the state.

Incidentally this stance is in contradiction with Congress Party President Rahul Gandhi who had openly supported Banerjee following CBI’s action against the Kolkata Police Chief.
