Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has issued a circular that warns all elected representatives against putting up their illegal hoardings and flexes on public property, thereby damaging the same.

The circular was issued on 19 November and reiterates what the Supreme Court said on the issue. Apart from the exempted list of individuals that includes the President, Prime Minister, Governor, Chief Minister and other Ministers, no one else’s image should be there on a banner, especially prior to inaugurating a new project.

Bangalore Mirror reported that the Commissioner of BBMP had not just given a stern warning to all representatives, but has also taken measures for illegal hoardings and flexes to be removed immediately.

A few months ago, a campaign in the name of #FlexPoliticsBeda had taken the city by storm as they pulled up elected representatives for putting up their illegal hoardings across the city, leading to damage of public property.

After this, the High Court of Karnataka intervened in a couple of Public Interest Litigation and had issued strict instructions that no political leader should be putting up their hoarding without paying taxes for it.
